Roller Coaster Test Dummy Lands On Nearby Roof

A body that landed on the roof of the Ebb Tide Suites in Ocean City, was that of a test dummy that had flown off a roller coaster at Castaway Cove. The Gale Force roller coaster was being tested with test dummies that are filled with water. One sprung a leak, reports the Press of Atlantic City, and it got loose and launched from the ride Saturday. There were some shingles and some plywood that were damaged by the impact. When filled and not leaking, those dummies weigh 150 pounds. Officials say anywhere between 15 and 30 test rides are done most mornings.
