Bridgeton Police Officer Pleads Guilty To Violating Individual’s Rights

Bridgeton police officer admitted using excessive force during a 2017 arrest. The Press of Atlantic City reports 51 year old
John Grier III pleaded guilty to violating an individual’s civil rights and falsifying a record for submitting a false police report about an assault in which he used pepper spray on a man who was in handcuffs. The violation of civil rights count carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a maximum fine of $100,000. Grier is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 6, 2024.
