Florida Sailboat Operator Charged After Running Aground In Ocean City

A sailboat operator, headed from Long Island to Cape May, is facing charges after he told police he fell asleep when he beached a single-mast sailboat at 48th Street in Ocean City a little after noon Wednesday. According to the Press of Atlantic City, 51 year old Jordan M. Smith of Florida was able to wade in to shore after the boat beached, and was not injured.
The towing company Sea Tow pulled the boat up the beach, beyond the high tide line, and as of Friday morning the boat remained there. Smith is charged with boating while intoxicated.
