Authorities were investigating a double homicide in Barnegat Township that drove local schools into temporary shelter-in-place orders on Thursday. According to the Press of Atlantic City, the double killing happened on Lincoln Avenue in the township, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement. The agency said a suspect was in custody, and the public is not in any danger. Police said at around 12 p.m. there was law enforcement activity near Lincoln Avenue and Bengal Boulevard, urging the public to avoid the scene. The area is about a block from the township’s high school.
