Public Hearing, Vote Set For Beach Tag Hike In Cape May

A public hearing and final vote are set Wednesday as Cape May could become the latest community to increase the cost of its beach tags. The Press of Atlantic City reports Cape May Mayor Zack Mullock cited salary increases for lifeguards and other beach staff as driving the proposed change. Under the ordinance, buying a seasonal beach tag in-season would cost $40, a $10 increase from the summer. If approved Wednesday, the change would be in effect for the summer for 2024. City Council is set to meet 5 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 643 Washington St., where the public will have a chance to weigh in.
