In Upper Township Strathmere’s northend beach is seeing work that’s part of a $33.7 million contract with Great Lakes Dredge and Dock of Illinois to add sand to beaches in Ocean City and Sea Isle City, as well as Strathmere. The dredge is collecting sand from a borrow area off the inlet, which is then pumped onto the beach and spread into dunes and a berm with heavy equipment.
