On January 18, 2024, at 11:03 AM, Detective Eric Evans received information from a concerned citizen regarding a man armed with a handgun in a convenience store in the 600 block of New York Avenue. Detective Evans and other detectives from the Special Investigations Section located the man, 18 year old Khalil Bass, in the store. Bass was arrested after being found in possession of a loaded handgun in his waistband.
At 5:19 PM, patrol officers responded to the area of the 700 block of Drexel Avenue for a report of a man in possession of handgun who was openly displaying it. As officers arrived into the area, updated location information was provided. Officers observed 22 year old Jaydin Taylor and another male walking in the area that was given. An officer attempted to speak with both males who fled. One male initially tripped and was detained. This male was a juvenile and released into the custody of his mother. Officers chased Taylor who was ultimately arrested.
