Former Atlantic City Councilman MD Hossain Morshed admitted Wednesday in federal court to falsifying voter registrations ahead of the 2019 June primary election, reports the Press of Atlantic City. Morshed, the former 4th Ward councilman, pleaded guilty to fraudulent procurement and submission of voter registration applications. He was originally charged March 17, 2023. False voter registration and false statements can each carry a potential maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine, or twice the gain or loss from the offense. Morshed is scheduled to be sentenced July 16.
