On May 9, 2024, at approximately 11:02 p.m., the Pleasantville
Police Department responded to 9 West Pleasant Avenue in Pleasantville, NJ in
reference to shots fired. Officers arrived and located Baseem Taliaferro, 38, from
Galloway Township, NJ deceased inside the residence. Taliaferro had at least one
gunshot wound to his torso. He was pronounced deceased while on scene. The cause
and manner of death are pending an autopsy.
This incident is currently being investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s
Major Crimes Unit and the Pleasantville Police Department.
