Traffic-related deaths in the state have risen at a dramatic rate so far this year, particularly in South Jersey, where Atlantic County has the second highest number of fatalities, at 28. According to the Press of Atlantic City vehicle-related deaths elsewhere in South Jersey have also risen in counties such as Ocean (24), Camden, (24) and Burlington (23), according to fatal crash statistics published Monday by the State Police. The statistics have prompted law enforcement to increase checkpoints all acorss the state.
