During the months of June and July the Department of Mosquito Control has detected seven positive West Nile virus (WNV) and one eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) mosquito collections. The areas that tested positive for WNV include Upper Township, Cape May City, the Boro of Woodbine and Lower Township. The one EEE collection was found in Lower Township. The Department of Mosquito Control has been and will continue to test and spray mosquitoes in the affected areas. To date, there are no reported human cases of WNV or EEE in Cape May County this year.
