A person barricaded themselves in a home for six hours Sunday while police attempted to conduct a welfare check, the department said. Officers responded at noon to the home in the 700 block of Cooper Ferry Court in the Smithville section of the township and learned the person was armed and refused to leave, police said in a Facebook post. The unidentifed person eventually voluntarily exited the home and was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for evaluation, police said.
