Galloway Township Restarting Foreclosure Program

Galloway Township is restarting its foreclosure program for non-taxpayers. Township Manager Chris Johansen said the plan is to refile title work and get back up to speed with foreclosures, focusing on visible liens so those properties can be sold off. According to The Press of Atlantic City, Johansen said the U.S. Supreme Court issued a decision earlier this year that basically requires a sheriff’s sale for municipalities to put properties in foreclosure. After that, he said, the New Jersey Legislature passed a law that allowed municipalities to offer sheriff’s sales.
