The Middle Township Committee approved an ordinance setting new rules for houseboats. There is an increasing trend of using houseboats as temporary rentals through sites like Airbnb and Vrbo, Committee member Theron “Ike” Gandy said. “We just have to make sure that we get out in front of it,” he said. That includes making sure houseboats have sufficient parking, plans for trash collection and a system to handle the waste from the boat’s on-board toilets. He tells the Press of Atlantic City “We’re just making sure that they have what they need.”
