U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew wants to see the federal government take over operations of the Atlantic City Housing Authority, after the ACHA increased a contract to repair rather than replace the heating system at Stanley Holmes Village from $1.5 million to $5.5 million without rebidding. Van Drew said the authority is wasting millions of taxpayer dollars on non-competitive contracts and temporary fixes while residents are left to suffer in unsafe and unacceptable conditions.
