On Friday, Marcus Hopewell, 40, of Atlantic City, pleaded guilty to Unlawful Possession of a Handgun.
On April 28, 2024, officers of the Atlantic City Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop.
When the automobile came to a stop, the front seat passenger, later identified as the defendant,
exited the vehicle, fled on foot, and threw an unregistered handgun on the ground in the process.
Police recovered the handgun, but the defendant was unable to be located on that date.
Subsequently, on May 14, 2024, police located the defendant and attempted to place him under
arrest. The Defendant fled on an electric bike before entering a residence. Police surrounded
the residence, and the defendant eventually exited and was placed into custody.
