Area School Put On Shelter In Place Monday

The Ventnor Community School was put on a shelter in place Monday afternoon due to a resident’s mental health issue. According to BreakingAC.com, police were called to the home across the street from the educational complex on Lafayette Avenue at about 2:40 p.m. for a man having a mental health crisis, and they learne the man may have a firearm, prompting the school across the street to be put on shelter in place as a precaution. Police negotiators were able to get in communication with the man by phone, and he eventually came out on his own, Fussner said. He was taken to a medical facility for evaluation.
