Former Wildwood Mayor Pete Byron is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 3 after admitting accepting state health benefits he wasn’t entitled to last September, according to the Press of Atlantic City.
Byron, 69, was originally scheduled to appear Friday in front of Cape May County Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury. He pleaded guilty Sept. 27 to theft. Byron could have faced up to 16 years in prison, but Deputy Attorneys General Brian Uzdavinis and Niccole L. Sandora agreed to treat Byron as a third-degree offender and recommended a sentence of three years.
