The detention hearing for a Waretown man charged with arson in the wildfire that has destroyed more than 15,000 acres and forced the evacuation of thousands in southern Ocean County is set to take place next Tuesday. Joseph William Kling, 19, is scheduled to appear in Ocean County Superior Court at 9 a.m. He also is charged with aggravated arson. And according to the Press of Atlantic City “The message of this arrest and the message for everybody is to have a conversation with your kids that starting a fire in the woods when the conditions are dry could lead to widespread damage, loss of life, loss of property and potentially criminal charges,” county Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said during a news conference Thursday afternoon at Wells Mills County Park in Waretown.
