55 year old Eddie Sykes of Mullica Twp. was charged with the first-degree murder, first-degree felony murder, and first-degree aggravated sexual assault of Evelyn Caez, 23 at the time of her death, also of Mullica Twp.
On October 12, 1991, at approximately 7:30 a.m., the Mullica Township Police Department
responded to 1 W. Lakeview Drive in Mullica Twp. Police located Baez, who was deceased, in
the kitchen of her residence. It was determined that Caez died as a result of stab wounds and
the manner of death was homicide. DNA evidence ultimately led to Sykes as the suspect.
