The Crest Haven county commissioners, acting in advance of the Nov. 1 deadline for massive cuts to the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) for low-income families, have authorized the distribution of $112,000 to eight community food pantries.Commission Director Leonard Desiderio said that as of Saturday, Nov. 1, more than 4,000 households in Cape May County are at risk of losing emergency food assistance due to the federal government shutdown.
