Absecon Men Admit To Filing False Tax Returns

Two Absecon men admitted filing false tax returns that concealed hundreds of thousands from their Atlantic City motels. According to BreakingAC.com, Dhruvesh Patel, 37, and Mayank Ray, 36, ran companies that owned a Rodeway Inn and Econo Lodge in Atlantic City. They admitted that between Jan. 1, 2019 and May 17, 2021, they would have customers pay cash, and then used some of that money to pay employees without collecting payroll taxes. They also kept some of the cash themselves, but did not report that income. Patel admitted the cost of his crimes was greater than a quarter-million dollars. Ray admitted that is conduct caused a loss of about $129,512.
