A New York panel on Monday approved three proposals to build casinos in New York city, including two owned by companies that already have casinos in Atlantic City, with whom they will now be competing. The New York Gaming Facility Location Board recommended projects by Bally’s, Hard Rock and Malaysia-based Genting Group for the three licenses to be awarded by the end of this year. They were the only three projects to make it this far in the grueling review process that saw projects backed by the likes of Jay-Z and Caesars Entertainment rejected. According to the Press of Atlantic City the New York State Gaming Commission must vote to award the licenses before the end of this month and the commission is widely expected to follow the recommendations.
