The South Jersey Transportation Authority has announced that cashless tolling will begin Jan. 4 on the Atlantic City Expressway.There will be two ways drivers will be billed for their tolls. E-ZPass will remain the same for those who have an account and device on their dashboards. The other option will be Toll-By-Plate, in which a bill will be mailed to the address on the vehicle’s registration but possibly at a higher rate.Benefits of this new system include increased throughput, reduced plaza congestion, improved convenience, enhanced safety, lower emissions and touchless tolling, according to the agency.
