Overdose deaths in Atlantic County were down nearly 46 percent last year over 2024, according to the New Jersey Medical Examiner’s Office. According to BreakingAC.com, there were 159 overdose deaths in the county in 2024, down 20 from the year before. But the decline was much more significant last year, with 86 deaths. Officials attribute the decline to a broad, coordinated effort among many partners working across the continuum of prevention, harm reduction, treatment, case management and aftercare.
