A downed wire off Tilton Road in Northfield sparked a fire that melted the asphalt during Sunday night’s snowstorm, fire officials said. BreakingAC.com reports the downed primary wires generated enough heat and energy to melt the asphalt, causing the roadway to burn and deform. Atlantic County placed traffic barrels to warn motorists of the affected area where the guide wires melted into the roadway.
