Report: Cape May Mayor May Make Entry Into 2nd Congressional District Primary

Cape May Mayor Zack Mullock may make a late entry into the Democratic primary for New Jersey’s 2nd congressional district, where Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) already faces a quartet of Democratic foes. New Jersey Globe reports Mullock wrote in an email to Atlantic County Democratic committeemembers last week that he’s beginning conversations “in preparation of my public announcement” as a 2nd district candidate, and he’s also told Democrats in Cape May County that he’s exploring a campaign. Mullock was first elected to the mayor’s office in 2020, unseating incumbent Mayor Chuck Lear 61%-39% in a nonpartisan contest. He was re-elected uncontested in 2024.
