According to the state Attorney General’s Office, a prison officer from Stafford Township was charged on Thursday for allegedly falsely accusing an inmate at the New Jersey State Prison in Trenton of possessing a weapon and using it as an excuse to attack him.The charges against Daniel Petoia, 34, include two counts of official misconduct, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, three counts of tampering with information or public records, three counts of falsifying or tampering with records, making false reports to law enforcement, and tampering with tangible evidence.
