In Mays Landing U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-2nd, will host a field hearing next week to examine a surge in power bills, his office said.Van Drew’s hearing will be held at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Atlantic County Institute of Technology, 5080 Atlantic Ave.At 11 a.m. Wednesday the 9th, there also will be a hearing in Trenton in front of the Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities committee, which will “receive testimony from invited guests concerning recent increases in electricity rates and the related cost burden on utility customers in certain service areas,” according to a listing on the U.S. Legislature’s website.
