The Ideal Institute of Technology has received a $500,000 grant from the state Economic Development Authority to turn an old firehouse on South Carolina Avenue into a supermarket. The Press of Atlantic City reports plans call for the four-story building at 7 South Carolina Ave. to feature a bakery, deli and meat market on the first floor, an indoor aquaponic/hydroponics facility for growing produce on the second floor, a community resource center with classrooms on the third floor and a restaurant on the top floor. The food market will be operated by the students attending the Pleasantville vocational training school.
