An Atlantic City Police detective was suspended after being accused of driving recklessly to the point that he nearly crashed into a patrol car before fleeing an attempted traffic stop. According to the Press of Atlantic City, Detective Fariyd Holmes is suspended without pay while the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office investigates, charged with eluding, according to a criminal complaint. He is due in Atlantic County Superior Court on Nov. 9. A city police officer watched Holmes run a red light at Tennessee and Arctic avenues in his Lexus on Sept. 21, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
The vehicle weaved through traffic as the officer followed it south on Atlantic Avenue, the affidavit states. At one point, the vehicle nearly collided head on with another police car.
