The Ocean City Planning Board has approved a site plan and multiple variances for a new residential unit above an Eighth Street ice cream parlor near the Boardwalk. The Press of Atlantic City involves a proposal from KNHJ Associates LLC for 819 Eighth St. Plans call for two additional stories to be added to the building, for a four-bedroom, single-family residence. The proposal required several variances, including one to allow vinyl siding and some bulk variances. Opposing the application were owners of condominiums in the neighboring building, known as The Hanscom, with most arguing the planned construction would impact their views and reduce their property values.
