Late Friday morning, Atlantic City Police got information about an armed man at a convenience store in the 600 block of New York Avenue. The detectives located 21 year old Mykal Salaam-Derry of Atlantic City inside the store. He was arrested after being found in possession of a loaded handgun in his waistband. Additionally, detectives located 28 individual bags of heroin, one gram of cocaine, and 23 grams of marijuana. Initially, Salaam-Derry attempted to provide detectives with a false name, but his true identity was ultimately determined. He faces drug and weapons counts.
