AC Police Arrest Man With Loaded Handgun

Atlantic City Police arrested a man with a loaded handgun who fled from an officer investigating a burglary.
On January 4 at 11PM, officers observed Julian Hinton walking in the 1300 block of Atlantic Avenue. Hinton matched the description of suspect involved in a vehicle burglary the night before that occurred nearby. Officers tried to detain Hinton who ignored the officer’s directions and continued to walk away before eventually running away. Hinton attempted to climb a chain-link fence to escape, but was unsuccessful and apprehended. As an officer was attempting to take Hinton into custody, Hinton used his free hand to attempt to reach under his body towards his waistband area. After being secured in handcuffs and moved to a seated position, a loaded handgun was located under Hinton. Hinton was also found to be in possession of five grams of cocaine. During the initial processing, he provided officers with a false name.
