Incident During Game Eliminates ACHS Boys Basketball From State Tourney

There will be no state tournament play for the Atlantic City High School boys basketball team following an incident that occurred during its 49-48 win over Mainland Regional on Tuesday. The Press of Atlantic City reports the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association banned the Vikings because they had multiple players leave the bench when tensions overflowed and the teams had to be separated near the end of the third quarter. NJSIAA rules say if three or more players are ejected from a game during the course of a season that team cannot participate in the state tournament. Mainland had two players suspended for leaving the bench because of the incident.
