On Wednesday, Wesley Briscoe, 20, of Atlantic
City pleaded guilty to second-degree aggravated assault, fourth-degree pointing a firearm,
and fourth-degree hindering his own apprehension. Under the terms of his plea agreement,
Briscoe is expected to be sentenced to an aggregate term of three years in New Jersey State
Prison, subject to 85% parole ineligibility under the No Early Release Act and the Graves Act.
On the evening of July 8, 2022, into July 9, 2022, a 20-year-old man was shot in the head on
the boardwalk in Atlantic City in the early morning hours. Through surveillance footage and
witness statements, investigators determined that Briscoe committed the shooting after riding
his bicycle to the boardwalk. Under oath during his guilty plea hearing, Briscoe to admitted
hiding his clothing after the shooting in order to avoid detection by the police.
