On Tuesday, February 20, Kevin Davis, 38, of Atlantic City pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted murder and second-degree possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose.
On September 13, 2019, Davis shot a man in the stomach with a handgun and then fled the
scene on a bicycle. The Violent Crimes Unit of the Atlantic City Police Department identified
Davis after retrieving surveillance footage from numerous locations. By backtracking through
the footage, police identified the home in Atlantic City that Davis entered after he committed the
shooting.
On October 3, 2019, ACPD executed a court approved search warrant at the home. Davis was
detained after he fled on foot. A search of the home revealed the clothing worn by Davis during
the shooting. Investigators also located a loaded handgun, which was determined to be a
different handgun than the one used in the September 13, 2019 shooting, as well as a large
amount of fentanyl and paraphernalia for packaging fentanyl.
Last March, Davis was convicted by a jury on the charges arising from the search warrant
execution on October 3, 2019, including unlawful possession of a handgun while maintaining a
fentanyl production facility. He was sentenced to an aggregate term of 48 years in New Jersey
State Prison with 24 years of parole ineligibility on that case.
