Dozens Arrested In Alleged Cockfighting Ring In Galloway

More than 50 people were arrested Saturday for their alleged involvement in a large cockfighting ring. According to the Press of Atlantic City, Jose Madera, of Galloway, was charged with several animal cruelty offenses, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, destruction of evidence and resisting arrest. Police searched a home in the 300 block of South Bremen Avenue as part of an ongoing investigation of a cockfighting operation. They found 52 people, $37,000 in cash, a cockfighting ring, spectator-style seating, cockfighting kits and 50 roosters in various degrees of health.
