Future Of AC Schools Superintendent Unclear

State education officials declined Monday to comment on the employment status of city schools Superintendent La’Quetta Small two weeks after she and husband Mayor Marty Small Sr. were charged with endangering the welfare of their teenage daughter. According to the Press of Atlantic City, a spokesperson wrote in an email response, “The New Jersey Department of Education does not comment on ongoing investigations.” Last Tuesday, the Atlantic City Board of Education held its first meeting since charges were filed against the Smalls for allegedly abusing their teenage daughter. Both the board and La’Quetta Small didn’t address the charges during the meeting and president Shay Steele declined to comment.
