Proposed Funding Cut Could Push Hispanic Women’s Resource Center In Hammonton To The Brink

A funding drop in Governor Murphy’s proposed budget could spell the end for the Hispanic Women’s Resource Center in Hammonton. Last year, the Latino Action Network Foundation, which oversees the center, received more than $3.75 million in state funding. The allotment in Murphy’s proposed spending plan sinks that number to around $1 million, a 75% decrease. The executive director of the Latino Action Network Foundation, Jesselly De La Cruz says the reduction could curb its programming dramatically and hinder its ability to serve its largely growing Latino community in South Jersey.
