Gov. Phil Murphy has tapped former Atlantic County Sheriff Eric Scheffler to be the new executive director of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, sources confirmed Thursday. The Press of Atlantic City reports the chairman of the Atlantic County Democratic Committee offered his congratulations to Scheffler, describing the former Atlantic City police officer as a great pick for the job because of his familiarity with Atlantic City and his experience running the county Sheriff’s Office. Scheffler declined to comment Thursday, saying the appointment has not been officially announced.
