Wildfire Burning In Wharton State Forest

New Jersey firefighters were working Wednesday to contain a wildfire burning in the area of Jackson Road in Wharton State Forest. The Press of Atlantic City reports crews are using a backfire operation to burn fuel ahead of the main body of fire, which will aid containment efforts, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. The fire is about 300 acres and was 40% contained as of 3 p.m., the Forest Fire Service said.
