Two Arrested In Shooting Incident That Injured 11 Year Old

The Atlantic City Police Department conducted an investigation into the shooting of a child, leading to the arrest of two suspects.
On May 25th at 10:26 PM, patrol officers responded to a report of a juvenile shot in the 100 block of north Rhode Island Avenue. Arriving officers located an 11-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound. The officers rendered aid until the boy was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, with non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation by patrol officers and later detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit identified two suspects, 22 year old Yanirah Davis of Galloway Township and 33 year old Yontay Cooper of Egg Harbor Township. The women arrived on the street with a hammer and a handgun to encounter a group that they had a prior altercation with. They began to smash out a vehicle’s window then began to shoot at the group. One of the fired projectiles entered a residence and struck the victim while he was lying on the floor. On the morning of May 26, detectives charged Davis and Cooper for their role in the shooting.
