Weather Reporting

Since the U.S. Army Signal Service opened a weather station at 27 S. Vermont Ave. on Dec. 10, 1873, the city has experienced a superstorm (Sandy, 2012), a landfalling hurricane (1903), eight brushes with hurricanes and 18 impacts from tropical storms.And that’s just tropical systems.In that 150 years according to the Press of Atlantic City, it’s all happened while barely missing a weather reading making it one of the oldest continuously reporting stations in the country.
