On July 4, Atlantic City Police responded to the 700 block of Maryland Avenue in reference to a dispute involving the repossession of a vehicle. Officers spoke with the registered owner of the vehicle, 32 year old city residentTaquanda Roberts, and the tow truck driver. Roberts was attempting to prevent her vehicle from being towed away.
Roberts entered her vehicle and sped onto the sidewalk striking a parked car. She pulled up to her children and ordered them in the vehicle. Officers ordered Roberts to exit her vehicle. She refused and accelerated away with her children now in the car. While fleeing the scene, Roberts struck another vehicle occupied by a woman and her four children ranging in ages from one to 10. She fled the scene of that crash and was ultimately located and arrested without incident.
