Judge Boosts Rent Abatements For Stanley Holmes Village Residents

A judge Wednesday increased rent abatements for residents of Stanley Holmes Village, saying the Atlantic City Housing Authority has failed to live up to its mission statement and harmed residents by repeatedly ignoring court orders to fix heat, gas and electrical systems. According to the Press of Atlantic City, the 130 residents who are suing over a lack of heat and hot water, gas leaks and other dangerous conditions will now get another 50% taken off their rents, in addition to a 25% reduction imposed earlier.
