The Cove Beach will reopen to swimming today, police said.The beach has been closed to swimming due the presence of an algae bloom. The state Department of Environmental Protection approved the reopening of the beach Thursday afternoon. According to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, a harmful algae bloom occurs when toxin-producing algae grow excessively in a body of water.
