Joseph McCarrie, an at-large member of Somers Point City Council, resigned from office earlier this week. Council President Janice Johnston said Thursday that McCarrie stepped down because of health and personal issues. “We are very grateful for his years of service and his very positive and enthusiastic role in the community,” Johnston said. “We sincerely wish him and his family the very best.” McCarrie, who was elected to council in 2020, did not respond to a request for comment when interviewed by the Press of Atlantic City.
