A guilty plea Friday from former Wildwood Mayor Pete Byron, who admitted accepting state health benefits to which he wasn’t entitled. The Press of Atlantic City reports the 69 year old was back in the Cape May County courthouse for a pretrial conference, where he pleaded guilty to one count of theft in front of Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury. He faces up to 16 ½ years in prison and is barred from holding public employment again.
