Five local towns have received $5,000 each from Atlantic City Electric and Sustainable Jersey to enhance the quality of life for residents as part of a sustainable communities grant program. According to the Press of Atlantic City, among the recipients are Somers Point, which will use the funds to develop a new trail with educational signage, and Maurice River Township will create a new recreational area with a boat ramp, pavilions, and other amenities. Mullica Township is expected to use the money to repair a UTV and highwater rescue vehicle, and Stafford Township will purchase a tidal gauge to help plan for emergencies fueled by climate change, officials said.
